Upcoming Meeting Dates – Annual Meeting – Quarterly Board Meeting

Annual Meeting – October 8th

Our Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at the Alpine County Administration Building Board Room at 99 Water Street. The meeting will also be held via Zoom. The meeting will start at 10:00 a.m.

calling all members!

A quorum is required to elect two (2) directors and approve the minutes of last year’s meeting.

There will also be a president’s report from President, Mary Young.

Your attendance, EITHER IN PERSON OR VIA ZOOM, would be much appreciated.

You can find the agenda on our Agendas, Forms, Minutes & MORE page.

Please RSVP in either case by emailing us at markleevillewatercompany@gmail.com.

4th Quarter 2022 Board Meeting – October 15th

This meeting will also be a hybrid meeting and will take place at the Markleeville Public Library at 8:30 a.m.

If you’d like to attend either in person or via Zoom please RSVP by emailing us at markleevillewatercompany@gmail.com.

Location Change for Tomorrow’s Board Meeting

Unfortunately the meeting room at the Markleeville Library WILL NOT be available tomorrow.

For those of you who wish to attend in person, the meeting will instead be held at President Mary Young’s home at 150 Sawmill Road, Markleeville, starting at 8:30 a.m.

There will still be a Zoom option for those that wish to attend virtually.

Please RSVP for either option by emailing us at markleevillewatercompany@gmail.com.

Upcoming Meetings – Quarterly Board Meeting and Annual Meeting

Our 1st meeting of the 3rd quarter of 2022 WILL NOT be held on the usual 3rd Saturday (7-16) due to the Deathride taking place that day.

Instead, the meeting will be held on Saturday, July 23rd. It will be in-person (at the Markleeville Library) and via Zoom. The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m.

Our Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, August 6th and it will take place at the Alpine County Administration Building Board Room (99 Water St., Markleeville) in-person and via Zoom. The meeting starts at 10:00 a.m.

Agendas for both meetings, as well as previous meeting minutes, operations reports, financials, and Consumer Confidence Reports can all be found on our Important Documents page so feel free to do whatever homework you need to in advance of these meetings.

While participation of members and qualified persons is always encouraged at any meeting, IT IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT at the Annual Meeting where a quorum of members (approx. 40) is needed in order for elections to be held on that date. Other important business also calls for a quorum.

Attending that meeting either in-person or virtually would help us eliminate having to send a lot of materials, and ballots, via mail, and would also make the meeting more productive for everyone.

To RSVP for either meeting, email us at markleevillewatercompany@gmail.com.

Upcoming Board Meeting To Include Discussion of Water-Use Guidelines

Our next meeting is Saturday, April 16th, at 8:30 a.m., and it will be held at the Markleeville Library AND via Zoom.

Please RSVP by emailing us at markleevillewatercompany@gmail.com.

While we will be discussing water conservation measures moving forward we want to remind you that last year’s landscape watering guidelines, as part of the Fire Related Mandatory Conservation Plan, remain in effect.

Thanks for your continued conservation efforts!

We look forward to seeing you either in-person or via Zoom in a couple weeks!

Board of Directors Meetings to Take Place Virtually Until Further Notice

This morning we posted that Saturday’s meeting will take place at the Alpine Co. Library at 270 Laramie Street in Markleeville at 8:30 a.m., HOWEVER, that is NO LONGER the case.

Per Alpine Co. Public Health (just a little bit after we posted up this morning’s heads up) public meetings are no longer allowed due to the surge in Covid cases within the county.

Here’s this weekend’s agenda, but again, attendance will only be by Zoom; there will be no one meeting at the library.

Qualified Persons may attend any MWC meeting but the meetings will now be via Zoom until further notice.

Please RSVP by emailing us at markleevillewatercompany@gmail.com.

Calling All Members – Volunteer Your Time & Expertise!

Happy New Year Markleeville Waterville Company Members and Friends!

We hope you had a great Christmas holiday and that you and yours are happy, healthy and safe.

As we kick off the new year we wanted to let everyone know that your participation and experience is ALWAYS welcome.

At our last meeting, at which by the way Becky Thornburg was elected as vice-president of the Board (congrats and thank you Becky!), we discussed MWC’s need for continued volunteerism.

Many of you helped out during our wateshed restoration and for that we are grateful. We wanted to mention, though, that continued help and participation is welcome and needed.

Perhaps you have expertise in areas such as engineering, plumbing, heavy equipment, electrical, construction, communication, or something else that could be of benefit to MWC or Alpine Co.?

If you’d like to help out, or just learn more about your water company, join us at one of our meetings.

All meetings are held on the third Saturday of the month, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and while they are not open to the entire public, they are open to all members and those with a membership interest (for more on those terms, check out our bylaws on our Important Documents page).

The regular board meetings take place on the first month of the quarter (i.e. Jan., April, July and October), and are held BOTH in-person and via Zoom.

Our special call meetings, held on the second and third months of the quarters, are held via Zoom only, and are typically shorter than the regular board meetings.

If you’d like to participate, email us at markleevillewatercompany@gmail.com and we’ll send you the meeting details.

Please join us at an upcoming meeting. We’d love to see you!

P.s. Even if you can’t join us at a meeting, your input is always appreciated.

The October Board Meeting Has Been Canceled

Because we held our annual meeting earlier this month we will not hold our October board meeting on October 16th.

Big thanks, by the way, to those of you who participated in the annual meeting at the Markleeville Library Park on October 2nd.

Our next board meeting will be held on November 20th, at Station 92, on Hot Springs Road.

All Members and Qualified Persons are welcome to attend.

We hope to see you there!

Upcoming Meetings and a Handy Table for Watering Days

Our next board meeting will take place in-person on Saturday, September 18th, at Station 92 (799 Hot Springs Rd., Markeeville) at 8:30 a.m.

Members and Qualified Persons are welcome to attend! Masks are required.

We’ve tentatively rescheduled our Annual Meeting for Saturday, October 2nd.

Location and time TBD so please stay tuned.

We’ve received some requests for clarification on watering days since some months have five (5) weeks in them. Please refer to this table:

Upcoming Board Meeting This Saturday – at the Fire Station

We’ll be meeting in-person this Saturday, August, 21, 2021, starting at 8:30 a.m., at Station 92, 799 Hot Springs Road, in Markleeville.

On the agenda are many items, including the election of one (1) director, with substantial time set aside for the following:

  • Operations Report
  • Systems Condition Report (clean-up, MWC’s plant infrastructure, collection gallery status, and more)
  • Status of MWC’s insurance claim
  • Status of the CA Dept. of Emergency Services claim
  • NRCS Emergency Watershed Restoration Program
  • Water-use restrictions

That’s not a complete list, by the way. Go to our Important Documents Page, and scroll down to “Board Meeting Agendas (current year),” to view the entire agenda.

We’ve got a lot to cover and members and qualified persons are strongly encouraged to attend.

Masks are required.

We hope to see you Saturday and please feel free to spread the word.
