Regarding the below table and its elements: The report requires MWC to list the material type of our water service lines (from the main to the curb stop or meter) and the material type of the customer owned service lines (from the curb stop or meter to the house).
The report was compiled and submitted by MWC, to the California State Water Resources Control Board Lead & Copper Dept., as was required by the state, and was submitted in a timely manner. MWC is further required to report our findings to our water users.
This reporting was required of all community water systems in California. This new reporting was implemented pursuant to various federal and state Environmental Protection Agency requirements on the heels of Flint, Michigan’s finding that Flint’s water delivery systems contained lead.
You can rest assured the Markleeville Water Company system has never contained any lead in any part of its system, from the Musser Jarvis collection gallery through the treatment plant to your connection at the curb stop.
MWC knows the material of our supply pipelines and service lines via company records. The supply pipelines are steel and PVC. MWC service lines are galvanized steel and plastic. We were further required to provide verification of service lines from the MWC curb stop to homes and businesses in this report. MWC supplied the State Water Board with this information to the best of our knowledge.
Information on material type came from visual observations of the service line when new meters or new curb stop were installed by MWC, by observations done when members installed new service lines, and by discussions with persons who worked on our system in the past. MWC will continue updating this report. As any service lines which were not available for this report become available for observation MWC will update the State Water Board with our findings.
